This article describes how to recover VeChain VET coins and VeChain tokens accidentally sent to an Ethereum (ETH) account.
This tutorial is for recovery purposes only. It's recommended to store your VET in a VeChain (VET) account.
Before you start
- Download and install the latest version of Ledger Live via this link.
- Follow this guide to make sure that your Ledger setup is up to date.
Install the VeChain Recovery app on your Ledger device
- Connect your Ledger device to your computer and unlock it.
- Open Ledger Live, go to Settings -> Experimental features and activate Developer mode.
- Go to My Ledger -> App catalog.
- Type VeChain in the search bar.
- Select the VeChain Recovery app and click Install.
Ledger Live displays Installed. You're done!
Connect your Ledger to the Sync Recovery app
- Close Ledger Live.
- Go to https://github.com/LedgerHQ/thor-sync.electron-ldg-recovery/releases/tag/v1.3.2-ldg-recovery-6
- Download the installation package for your OS and install the app on your computer.
If prompted with a security pop-up on Windows, select More info -> Run anyway. - Open Sync and select Create Now.
- On your Ledger device, navigate to the VeChain Recovery app and press both buttons simultaneously to open the app.
Your Ledger device displays: This is a recovery tool. - Go back to Sync and select Ledger.
- Name your device then click Import.
- Select an account to access your VET and VTHO balances.
You now have access to your VET! From here, we highly recommend you to send your VET away from this wallet address (since it's on a non-standard derivation path) either temporarily to an exchange that supports native VET, or directly to a standard Ledger VeChain account address that you control.
