How to manage Stellar (XLM) custom tokens with Ledger

This article explains how to manage custom XLM tokens with Ledger.

Before you start

Manage your XLM tokens

We recommend using StellarX to manage XLM tokens.

Note: when using StellarX you will need a total of 2 XLM (for reserves).

Send a minimum of 1 XLM to your new StellarX account to activate it. This 1 XLM will remain locked. StellarX takes an additional 1 XLM reserve which is locked as well.

Trustlines open automatically if swapping Stellar assets via StellarX.
Each trustline costs .5 XLM to open (which is done automatically if swapping XLM via StellarX). Trustlines can be closed once you no longer have any of the given token, returning the .5 XLM back to you. Learn more about trustlines here

Using StellarX with Ledger

After downloading the XLM app and adding your XLM account, you're ready to connect to StellarX. Keep in mind that even though you'll be managing and interacting with the XLM token in StellarX, the tokens are still secured with Ledger.

Connecting to StellarX

  1. Go to StellarX.
  2. On your Ledger device, open the XLM app
  3. Go back to StellarX and click Connect Wallet in the top right corner.
  4. Select Ledger. A pop-up window will show up.
  5. Select your Ledger device and click Connect

That's it!
