Set up and use Core web to access your Ledger Avalanche (AVAX) account

This article will show you how to access your Ledger Avalanche (AVAX) account using the third-party wallet Core web. Check the Avalanche wallet page to learn more. 

Before you start

  • Update the firmware on your Ledger Nano SNano S Plus / Nano X.
  • Make sure to have the latest version of the Avalanche app installed.
  • Make sure to close Ledger Live as it can conflict with Core web.

Accessing your Ledger Avalanche account(s) through Core Web 

  1. Connect your Ledger device and open the Avalanche app on your device.
  2. Go to the Core web page and click Connect Wallet.
  3. Select Ledger among the proposed wallets. The browser will display a selection box.
  4. Select your device and click Connect.

Once successful, Core web will open to your Portfolio. If you had any previous
balances, they will appear.

You should see your balance and the receiving address for X, P, and C-Chains.

Accessing your Ledger Avalanche account(s) through the Core browser extension

Before you start

  • Update the firmware on your Ledger Nano S / Nano S Plus / Nano X.
  • Make sure to have the latest version of the Avalanche app installed.
  • Make sure to close Ledger Live as it can conflict with the Core browser extension.

Steps

  1. Download the Core browser extension.
  2. Select Access Existing Wallet, and then, select Ledger.
  3. Select the Derivation path desired. The previous Avalanche wallet used the BIP44 derivation path and it is the recommended derivation path choice. To learn more about the differences in derivation paths supported in Core, please view this article.
  4. Confirm the sharing of your public keys on your Ledger device.
  5. Click Next to proceed.
  6. Name the wallet and set up the password.
  7. The wallet has been created and can be accessed in the extension bar.
