I accidentally sent Ethereum Classic (ETC) via Binance Smart Chain (BEP20) network

This article describes how to access Ethereum Classic (ETC) coins that have been mistakenly sent to your Ledger Ethereum Classic address via Binance Smart Chain (BNB) network.

Important note

  • This tutorial is for recovery purposes only, the recommended way to store ETC is described here.
  • This tutorial uses a special version of the Ethereum app called the Eth recovery app which can be installed on your Ledger device via My Ledger in Ledger Live with enabled Developer Mode.

Before your start

  • Ensure you have the latest firmware version of the Ledger device.
  • Ensure the latest version of the Eth recovery app is installed on your Ledger device.
  • Once the app has been installed on your device, make sure to close Ledger Live.

Sending Binance-Peg ETC to the Ethereum Classic network

You will need some BNB for network fees to send them back to the exchange.

  1. Send some BNB (approximately 0.001 BNB) to your BNB address for Ethereum Classic.
  2. Send your ETC back to the exchange. On the exchange, select the ETC deposit and the BNB (BEP20) network. It is VERY IMPORTANT.
  3. You should receive your ETC on the exchange.

You can now send your ETC coins back to your Ledger Ethereum Classic (ETC) account as provided by Ledger Live and choose the correct Ethereum Classic Network.
