Kadena (KDA)

This tutorial will show you how to create your first Ledger Kadena (KDA) account with your Ledger device connected to a tool called Kadena Transfer.

  Kadena accounts are not supported in Ledger Live at the moment.

Install the Kadena (KDA) app on your Ledger device

  1. Connect and unlock your Ledger device.
  2. Open Ledger Live and navigate to My Ledger.
  3. If asked, allow access to My Ledger by pressing both buttons on your Ledger device simultaneously. 
  4. In My Ledger, select the App catalog, search for Kadena (KDA) and click Install.
    You're done.

     The Kadena app is developed and supported by the Kadena community.

Connect your Ledger device to Kadena Transfer app

  1. Go to the website.
  2. Select 'Ledger Tools' and then 'Simple Transfer'.

  3. Open the Kadena app on your Ledger device, the word 'Kadena' should be displayed on your Ledger screen.

  4. On the website, click 'Change/Verify Ledger Account'. From the pop-up menu, select your Ledger device and click Connect.

  5. Your Kadena (KDA) account address will be displayed within the app. To ensure this address is secure, it's crucial to verify it on your device. Click Verify and Provide Public Key should appear on your Ledger's screen.

  6. Carefully check that the address on your Ledger device matches the one shown in the app. If they match, move to the Confirm screen on your Ledger device and press both buttons simultaneously to validate the address.

    Done! You can now copy the verified address and proceed to send Kadena (KDA) coins to your Ledger wallet. 
 Always include the 'k:' prefix in your Kadena (KDA) address. Omitting it may result in lost funds. If you're sending KDA coins to your Ledger wallet for the first time, always start with a small test amount.

How to check your Kadena (KDA) balance

You can check your Kadena (KDA) coin balance using a blockchain explorer like

  1. Go to
  2. Make sure the 'Account' option is selected
  3. Paste your Kadena address into the search field, making sure it starts with 'k:'.
  4. Click on 'Search'.
