This article describes how to use the Findeth.io app to check whether a lost EVM address is secured by your Ledger device.
Before you start
- Make sure to update Ledger Live to the latest version via this link.
- Open Ledger Live and connect your Ledger device to My Ledger to ensure that your device is running the latest firmware version.
- Ensure that the latest version of the Ethereum (ETH) app is installed on your Ledger device.
- Once you're all done, close Ledger Live as it can conflict with Findeth.io.
- Download the Firefox browser via this link (Findeth.io only supports Ledger devices on Firefox).
Using Findeth.io to locate a lost EVM address
- Open Firefox and go to the Findeth.io app.
- On the home page, select Start Searching.
- Select Address, paste the address in the search bar then click Next.

Plug your Ledger device into your computer and open the Ethereum (ETH) app on your device
Your device displays: Application is Ready.

On the website select the Ledger option.
Your device connects to the app. - In the Choose your options menu, navigate to the Depth option and type 10, make sure all the derivation paths are selected then click Search.
- The tool will search your Ledger device and return address found or address not found.
The address I am looking for wasn't found
- This means that the address you're looking for is not secured by the recovery phrase that's seeded in your Ledger device.
- Do you own multiple recovery phrases? It's possible that the address you're looking for is secured by a different recovery phrase.
- Do you own multiple Ledger devices? It's possible that the address you're looking for is secured by a different device.
