Bridging assets from Binance Smart Chain (BSC) to other networks with cBridge

This article describes how to use cBridge to transfer crypto assets between Binance Smart Chain (BSC) and the networks listed below. You can learn more about cBridge here.

Before you start

  • Make sure to update to the latest version of Ledger Live via this link.
  • Open My Ledger in Ledger Live and ensure your Ledger device is running the latest firmware version
  • Install the latest version of the Ethereum (ETH) app on your Ledger device.
  • Install the Metamask extension in your browser (we strongly recommend Chrome) and create a regular Metamask account.
  • Connect your Ledger Ethereum account to Metamask as explained here.
  • Connect Metamask to the (Binance) Smart Chain network by following these steps.

Bridging assets across networks with cBridge

  1. Open your browser, unlock Metamask and select your Ledger account. 
  2. In your browser, open the cBridge app.
  3. Select Connect a Wallet then Metamask.
    Metamask connects to cBridge, your Ledger account address appears in the app.
  4. Navigate to the Send menu and select the asset to send.
  5. Use the From and To menus to select the source and destination networks.
    For example: To bridge ETH from your Binance Smart Chain (BSC) account to your Polygon (MATIC) account, select (Send) ETH, (From) BSC, (To) Polygon.
  6. On your Ledger device, open the Ethereum (ETH) app, go to Settings and enable Bling Signing by following these steps.
    Once blind signing is enabled, please leave the ETH app open on your Ledger device.
  7. Back to cBridge, select the number of coins or tokens you wish to transfer, review the fees then click Approve cBridge to use your [ETH].
    Metamask opens in your browser.
  8. If it's your first time transferring assets with cBridge, you'll need to give the app permission to access the balance you wish to transfer. In Metamask, click Confirm, Review the transaction on your Ledger device then Accept and send the transaction on your device.
    cBridge has now permission to access that balance and process the transfer.
  9. On the cBridge app, review the fee by hovering your mouse on the Fee icon, click Transfer, review your transaction one last time then click Confirm transfer.
    Metamask opens in your browser.
  10. On Metamask, review the transaction then click Confirm.
    Your Ledger device displays Review transaction, your device is waiting for your confirmation.
  11. Review the transaction on your Ledger device then scroll to the Accept and send screen and press both buttons to confirm.
    Your transaction receipt appears in the app. The receipt includes your funds' estimated time of arrival to the destination account.
  12. Click Done.
    You can track your transaction by clicking the Pending icon.
