Check the firmware version

You can check the firmware version on your Ledger device. The firmware is the software that's running on your device. You should update your device to benefit from security upgrades, new features, and new applications. Learn how to update your Nano S, Nano S Plus, or Nano X

Instructions

A device in use
Ledger Nano X Ledger Nano S or Ledger Nano S Plus
  1. Switch on the device.
  2. Enter your PIN code to unlock the device.
  3. Hold both buttons for 3 seconds at any time to open the Control Center.
  4. Navigate to Settings > General > Firmware version.
    The firmware version is displayed under Secure Element.
  5. Check the release notes to make sure that the firmware version on your device is the latest version available.
  6. If the firmware version is outdated, follow the steps outlined in this article to update your device to the latest version available. 
New, unused device
Ledger Nano X Ledger Nano S or Ledger Nano S Plus
  1. Press and hold the left button next to the USB port until Bootloader mode is displayed.
  2. Navigate to Firmware version.
    The firmware version is displayed under Secure Element.
  3. Check the release notes to make sure that the firmware version on your device is the latest version available.
  4. If the firmware version is outdated, follow the steps outlined in this article to update your device to the latest version available.
