Enable password lock to prevent unauthorized access to Ledger Live. The password encrypts all sensitive user data, including your account names, public addresses, and transactions.
"Common Lockscreen Subtitle" Error
We've identified an issue on older Ledger live versions where a "common lockscreen subtitle" error message is displayed on the lock screen of Ledger Live. Please be advised that this is simply a visual bug, with no further impact. This can be solved by updating Ledger Live to its latest version via https://www.ledger.com/ledger-live
Set up
A password can be set at the initial setup or at any later moment:
- Click on Settings.
- Click the password lock toggle ( ).
- Choose your password in the window that opens.
- Enter your password again to confirm.
- Click Save.
- Open the Settings tab.
- Go to the General section.
- Tap the Password lock toggle ( ).
- Choose your password.
- Enter your password again to confirm.
- (optional) You can now also enable unlocking the app with your face or fingerprint.
You can always return to disable your password. To change your password, simply disable the password lock and re-enable it with a new password.
Lock and unlock your session
- Click on Lock in the top bar.
- Your Ledger Live session will be locked.
- To unlock, enter your password and press Enter.
- Your session should resume.
- The app will lock whenever you leave the app.
- To unlock, either use your face or fingerprint or enter your password and tap Log in.
- Your session should resume.
Tips
- Make sure to remember your password. Do not share it.
- Losing your password requires resetting Ledger Live and re-adding accounts.
