Fix Bluetooth pairing issues

Bluetooth pairing is reset by the most recent firmware update

  • The latest firmware update to v.2.0.0 will reset Bluetooth pairing between your Ledger Nano X device and the Ledger Live mobile app.
  • After completing the update, please make sure to re-pair your Ledger device by following the troubleshooting guide below.
  • Don't worry, this doesn't have any effect on your crypto assets.

If you are experiencing issues connecting to Ledger Live mobile after you have enabled Bluetooth on your Ledger Nano X, you can follow the instructions below to solve this issue. 

Connection issue on the first pairing

When you pair your Ledger Nano X with a new smartphone, the following error message might be displayed on your screen: "Sorry, connection failed".

To solve the connection issue: 

  1. Tap anywhere outside the error message box.
  2. In Select your device, select your Ledger Nano X.  

You should now be able to successfully access the Manager.

Troubleshooting

If you are still facing pairing issues or your Ledger Nano X can not be found by your smartphone, follow the instructions below.

Android iOS
Step 1. Reset Ledger Nano X pairings
  1. Turn on and unlock your Ledger Nano X.
  2. Hold both buttons to access the control center.
  3. Navigate to the Settings and press both buttons.
  4. Press the right button then press both buttons to access the Security menu.
  5. Press both buttons to validate Reset pairings.
  6. Confirm Reset pairings once more and enter your pin code.
  7. Finally, turn off and restart your Ledger Nano X to apply the Bluetooth reset.

Step 2. Remove your device from Ledger Live manager
  1. Open Ledger Live mobile on your smartphone.
  2. Go in the Manager.
  3. Click on the ellipsis (three dots) next to your Ledger Nano X and tap the red button Remove device.

Step 3. Forget Ledger Nano X on your smartphone
  1. Open the Settings of your smartphone.
  2. Select Bluetooth.
  3. Search for your Ledger Nano X and tap on it.
  4. Tap Unpair.

Step 4. Retry pairing your Ledger Nano X
  1. Make sure location services are enabled in your phone settings for Ledger Live.
    Ledger Live never uses your location information, this is a requirement for Bluetooth on Android.
  2. Clear the Bluetooth cache on your smartphone by following the instructions in this article.
  3. Turn on your Ledger Nano X and make sure Bluetooth is enabled.
  4. Open Ledger Live and start the pairing.
  5. Tap on the Ledger Nano X once it's available in Ledger Live mobile. It may take a few moments for a pairing code to be displayed on both devices.
  6. If the codes are the same, confirm the pairing on your smartphone. Press both buttons on your Ledger Nano X to confirm the pairing.
  7. Press both buttons to Allow Ledger Manager. The pairing is complete after the authenticity of your Ledger Nano X has been checked by Ledger's secure server.
    The following error message "Sorry, connection failed" appears when you access the Manager for the first time after the pairing.
  8. Tap anywhere outside the error message box to ignore the error message.
  9. In Select your device, select your Ledger Nano X.  
    You should now be able to successfully access the Manager.
