Solana (SOL)

This article will help you set up your first Ledger Solana (SOL) account.

Before you start

  • Download and install Ledger Live on your computer. You can learn more about how to get started with Ledger Live here.
  • Open Ledger Live, connect your Ledger device to the Manager and make sure your Ledger device is running the latest firmware version.
  • If your Ledger device needs a firmware update, please follow this guide (Nano S user) or this guide (Nano X user).

Install the Solana (SOL) app on your Ledger device

  1. Open Ledger Live and navigate to the Manager tab.
  2. Connect and unlock your Ledger device.
  3. If asked, allow the manager on your device.
  4. Search for the Solana (SOL) app in the app catalog.
  5. Click the Install button to install the app on your Ledger device.
    • Your Ledger device displays Processing.
    • Ledger Live displays Installed.


Final steps

  • Solana accounts cannot be created in Ledger Live for the moment.

Why can't I create a Solana account in Ledger Live?

  • While your Ledger device can store SOL coins and Solana assets and NFTs, the Ledger Live app does not support Solana accounts yet.
  • To create your first account we recommend using Solflare or Phantom with your Ledger device.
  • Using Solflare or Phantom is perfectly safe, all accounts created with your Ledger device through Solflare or phantom are secured by your Ledger device.

Sending tokens across the Solana network

Before sending tokens on the Solana blockchain, make sure you have enabled blind signing in the Solana app settings on your Ledger device.

To enable blind signing:

  1. Connect and unlock your Ledger device.
  2. Open the Solana app.
  3. Press the right button to navigate to Settings. Then press both buttons to validate.
  4. In the Blind signing settings, select Yes by pressing both buttons.
