Take your first steps

The first time you use Ledger Live mobile, it will help you set up your Ledger hardware wallet and configure a few important settings to get started quickly.

To set up another device, restart the onboarding process from the Help section in the settings.

Before you begin

  • Make sure you've downloaded Ledger Live mobile.
  • For Ledger Nano S or Ledger Blue users, you can either import your accounts from Ledger Live desktop (iOS and Android) or use an OTG-cable to connect your hardware wallet to your phone (Android only).

Step 2. Set up your device
  1. Choose your option:
    • Set up as new device if this is your first time using a hardware wallet. Follow the instructions in Ledger Live mobile to choose your PIN code and write down your recovery phrase. Learn more

  2. Once your device is ready, complete the security checklist in Ledger Live to verify that you benefit from the optimal level of security.
Important: Contact us if you've answered No to any question, or when in doubt.
Step 3. Pair your Ledger Nano X
  1. Tap Pair new Ledger Nano X in Ledger Live. Bluetooth must be enabled on your phone and Ledger Nano X (enabled by default, turning Bluetooth on/off requires a reboot).

On Android, Ledger Live requires location services to pair your device. Your location information is never used by Ledger.
  2. Choose your Ledger Nano X once it's detected in Ledger Live. A Bluetooth pairing request with a pairing code is shown on both devices.
  3. Verify that both codes are the same, then confirm the pairing on your smartphone.

Choose an optional password that unlocks the application to enhance your privacy. Depending on your phone's functionality, you can enable biometrics to unlock the app without entering your password.

  1. Tap Set password or Skip if you do not want to set a password.
  2. Choose your password and tap Confirm.
  3. Enter your password once more.
  4. Tap the toggle to enable unlocking Ledger Live using your face or fingerprint.
  5. Tap Continue.

Make sure to remember your password. Losing it requires resetting Ledger Live and re-adding accounts. This does not affect your crypto assets.

Step 5. Bug reports & analytics

Besides mandatory technical data, you can share anonymous data with Ledger to help improve its products. Ledger will automatically collect this data unless you decide to opt out. This can be done at any time in Settings > General.

  1. Select which data to share:
    • Analytics: Enable analytics of usage data to help Ledger improve the user experience.
    • Bug reports: Send automatic bug reports when the application crashes to help improve its stability.
  2. Tap Continue to acknowledge having read and to accept Ledger's Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
  3. Tap Open Ledger Live to access Portfolio.
