The Ledger Live desktop application lets you manage your crypto assets with the security of your Ledger device. It supports the Ledger Nano X, Ledger Nano S and Ledger Blue via USB.
Prerequisites
- A Ledger hardware wallet.
- A computer with at least macOS 10.10, Windows 8 (64-bit) or Linux Ubuntu 16.10 (64-bit).
- An internet connection and an available USB port. Use an adapter for USB-C ports.
Instructions
Mac installation
- Navigate to ledger.com/ledger-live/download.
- Download the Ledger Live application.
- Double-click the .dmg file you downloaded.
- Drag and drop the Ledger Live application to the Applications folder.
- Start Ledger Live from Launchpad or Spotlight.
- Depending on your macOS version, the following message displays. Click Open to allow the installation.
Windows installation
- Navigate to ledger.com/ledger-live/download.
- Download the Ledger Live application.
- Double-click the Ledger Live executable file you downloaded.
- If a warning displays, click Yes to allow the installation of Ledger Live.
- Once the installation completes, click Finish.
Linux installation
You can install Ledger Live on Linux using the command line or the graphical user interface.
Using the command line
- Navigate to ledger.com/ledger-live/download.
- Download the Ledger Live AppImage.
- Make the file executable in a terminal:
chmod +x ledger-live-*.AppImage
- Enter the following command to automatically add the udev rules and reload udev to allow USB access to your Ledger device:
wget -q -O - https://raw.githubusercontent.com/LedgerHQ/udev-rules/master/add_udev_rules.sh | sudo bash
- Launch the AppImage by double-clicking on it or via your terminal.
If you get a sandboxing error, run the app with --no-sandbox:./ledger-live-desktop-*.AppImage --no-sandbox
Using the graphical user interface
- Navigate to ledger.com/ledger-live/download.
- Download the Ledger Live AppImage.
- Go to the Downloads folder.
- Right-click on the Ledger Live AppImage you downloaded and click Properties.
- Go to the Permissions tab.
- In the Execute field, tick Allow executing file as program.
