This article will help you set up your first Base account on the Base network with your Ledger device and Ledger Live.

  • NFTs on Base are not displayed in Ledger Live. However, you can view them using the Zerion app in the Discover section.
  • Some ERC20 tokens aren't supported by Ledger Live. You can use the Zerion app to view them. 
  • When withdrawing ETH or ERC20 tokens on BASE from an exchange, make sure to select the Base network. 
  • Adding a BASE account is currently only available on the Ledger Live desktop and Android app.

Before you start

Add a Base account to Ledger Live

  1. In the left sidebar menu, go to Accounts.
  2. Click Add account.
  3. Choose Base (ETH) from the drop-down list.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. Connect your device to Ledger Live and unlock it.
  6. Open the Ethereum (ETH) app on your device.
  7. Click Add account.


That’s it, the Base (ETH) account is added to your Portfolio.

Receive assets 

You can receive ETH and ERC20 tokens on your Base account, using a Ledger device to verify and approve transactions.

Pro tip: When withdrawing funds from an exchange to your Base account, be sure to choose the Base network. Learn more

  1. Connect your Ledger device to your computer and unlock it.
  2. Open the Ethereum (ETH) app on your device.
  3. Your Ledger displays: Application is ready
  4. Open Ledger Live and click Receive.
  5. In the drop-down list, select Base (ETH) and click Continue.
    Your Ledger device displays: Verify address.
  6. Use the right button to scroll through the address. Make sure the address that shows on your device screen is identical to the one in Ledger Live.
  7. If all looks good, press both buttons and then again press both buttons one more time to verify the address.
  8. Copy the address and share it with the sender. Ensure that the address does not change after you copy/paste it.
Send assets

You can send ETH and ERC20 tokens from your Base account, using a Ledger device to verify and approve transactions.

Pro tip: Send a small amount first and verify that the transaction was received before sending larger amounts. If you’re unsure whether a transaction was successful, check back in a few minutes.

  1. In the left sidebar menu, go to Accounts and click Base (ETH).
  2. Click Send.
  3. Enter the recipient address. Double-check the address and click Continue.
  4. Enter the amount you want to send.
  5. Check the transaction summary—Amount and Network fees—and click Continue.
  6. Verify and approve the transaction on your Ledger device—press both buttons simultaneously to Approve. Press both buttons simultaneously to Accept and send the transaction.

The transaction is sent. Your account balance will be updated when the blockchain confirms the transaction.
