News: Ledger Recover, provided by Coincover
- We’re excited to announce that this Ledger OS version 2.2.3 enables everyone with a Ledger Nano X to subscribe to Ledger Recover, provided by Coincover, our new wallet recovery solution. Learn more here.
- Ledger Recover is an optional, paid subscription service available at launch for all Ledger Nano X users. The service creates a backup for your Secret Recovery Phrase.
- Updating your Ledger OS will not automatically activate Ledger Recover. If you choose to sign up for Ledger Recover once the service is launched, you will need to authorize the paid subscription of Ledger Recover with your Ledger device.
- By subscribing, you will be able to restore access to your wallet whenever you need it.

OS version 2.2.2

What’s new in OS version 2.2.2?
The OS version 2.2.2 open sources the dashboard, a piece of the OS containing a part of Ledger Recover provided by Coincover implementation, for technical review and verification. For more information please read the Ledger Recover white paper.
Ledger Recover provided by Coincover is an optional paid subscription service that is not yet launched. Updating your Ledger OS does not change the security of your device.

OS version 2.2.1
What’s new in OS version 2.2.1?
The OS version 2.2.1 includes support for a new Ledger optional service that is not yet launched: Ledger Recover provided by Coincover. For more information, read the Ledger Recover white paper.
Before you update
- Make sure you have updated Ledger Live through the notification banner or downloaded the latest version of Ledger Live.
Ledger Recover
Ledger Recover provided by Coincover is an ID-based key recovery service that allows you to create a backup for your Secret Recovery Phrase. Once launched, the service will be fully optional.
Note: Ledger Recover is compatible with Ledger Nano X and will soon be available on Android and iOS running the latest Ledger Live version.
At launch, a passport/national identity card issued by the European Union, the United Kingdom, Canada, or the United States will be required to subscribe to the service. We will be covering more countries and adding support for more documents in the coming months. Stay tuned.
OS version 2.1.0

What’s new in OS version 2.1.0?
The OS version 2.1.0 features a redesigned PIN code screen and support for French and Spanish. Keep in mind that you can only change the language of the Ledger Nano X operating system. The apps are available in English.
Before you update
- Make sure you have updated Ledger Live through the notification banner or downloaded the latest version of Ledger Live.
Enhanced user experience and security
- The PIN code screen is redesigned to improve security and simplify code entry.
- In addition to English, you can now set the device's language to Spanish or French. To change the language, navigate to My Ledger → Language >in the Ledger Live app.
Note: Changing the language of your Ledger Nano X doesn't automatically change the language of Ledger Live.
Firmware version 2.0.2

What’s new in firmware version 2.0.2?
Firmware version 2.0.2 features a faster Bluetooth transfer rate, as well as several user experience improvements, an update to the user interface, and some bug fixes.
Important notice: Bluetooth pairing will be reset after the update.
Don’t worry, this has no impact on your assets. After the update, simply follow this guide to pair your device with your phone again.
Before you update
- Make sure you have updated Ledger Live through the notification banner or downloaded the latest version of Ledger Live.
Better user experience
- Increased Bluetooth transfer rate, which will result in faster app installations with Ledger Live mobile version 2.37.1 or higher.
- Improved the legibility of the PIN screen with more readable digits.
Updated user interface
- Updated the boot logo and screensaver to match Ledger’s rebranding.
Fixes
- Fixed a bug that could cause the device screen to become unresponsive.
- The Reset pairings option resets the Bluetooth pairing properly.
- Fixed other miscellaneous bugs.
Firmware version 2.0.1
What’s new in firmware version 2.0.1?
Firmware version 2.0.1 includes bug fixes for newly issued Nano X devices. As a result, this update is not available through Ledger Live for existing users.

What’s new in firmware version 2.0.0?
Firmware version 2.0.0 offers a quicker onboarding experience, battery improvements and fixes, security enhancements, and several user experience improvements. Please find more information about this update in our blog post.
Important notice: Bluetooth pairing will be reset after the update.
Don’t worry, this has no impact on your assets or the functionality of your device. After the update, you need to follow this guide and restart your device before pairing it again with your smartphone.
Before you update
- Make sure you have updated Ledger Live through the notification banner or downloaded the latest version of Ledger Live. Note that the update to firmware version 2.0.0 is available from Ledger Live Desktop version 2.33.1 or higher.
A quicker onboarding experience
- Shortened the Recovery phrase confirmation: choose each word of the Recovery phrase among four suggested words instead of 24.
- Added educational content before the Recovery phrase display and after the Recovery phrase confirmation to underline its importance.
Security and privacy enhancements
- When turning on the device, a warning message will be displayed if there are fewer than three PIN attempts remaining.
- The default Bluetooth name of the device can be changed.
- Bluetooth is now instantly enabled and disabled from the control center. You no longer need to reboot your device for the setting to take effect.
Battery improvements and fixes
- Fixed a temperature error preventing some users from charging their device.
- Improved device power consumption for some users, resulting in longer battery life.
- Battery alerts include the remaining battery percentage.
- New battery alert levels: 20% and 5% charge trigger the “Low battery” alert.
Paving the way for Bitcoin Taproot
- Added support for BIP-0340 Schnorr Signatures.
Other improvements
- Added a Device name setting in the control center to quickly access your device name.
- A progress bar is displayed on the device screen when installing applications.
- Added separate settings for the PIN lock and the screensaver.

Firmware version 1.3.0 includes bug fixes.
Before you update:
- Make sure you have updated Ledger Live through the notification banner or downloaded the latest version of Ledger Live. Note that the update to firmware version 1.3.0 is only available from Ledger Live version 2.26.1.
Fixes
- Fixed a bug that could prevent the device from locking upon unplugging.
- Fixed a minor security issue that didn’t affect users. Learn more.

What’s new in firmware version 1.2.4-4?
Firmware version 1.2.4-4 fixes a bug affecting a few users that upgraded to version 1.2.4-2. Please find more information about this update in our blog post.
Fixes
- Apply the RDP lock directly during the update.
- Removed the MCU integrity check at each boot added in version 1.2.4-2 to fix a rare bug where the device got stuck at “Follow device repair instructions”.
Firmware version 1.2.4-2
Released 8 July 2020
Firmware version 1.2.4-2 includes security enhancements, user experience improvements, additional cryptographic support, and a few other changes. Please find more information about this update in our blog post.
Security enhancements
- Fixed a minor RDP lock vulnerability that could be used to make the device connect as a keyboard in the context of a supply chain attack, for example.
- MCU firmware integrity is now checked by the Secure Element at each boot (similar to Nano S).
Better user experience
- Smooth update: no need to disconnect and reconnect the USB cable during firmware updates! Bootloader mode is now automatically launched to update the MCU firmware.
- Significantly reduced the delay when (un)installing multiple apps in the Manager.
Other changes
- Added cryptographic support for the Stark 256 and BLS12-381 curves.
- Changes to the regulatory information, accessible through the settings or the boot menu.
- Fixed functionality to switch between library contexts.
